JERSEY CITY, NJ. March 30, 2024 (Biz Republic) — Mayor and Gubernatorial Candidate Steven Fulop announced transformative plans for Health and Human Services that would reshape New Jersey’s healthcare landscape and provide substantial new benefits to parents, children, seniors, residents with disabilities, people struggling with substance abuse and mental health challenges and much more. The fourth major plank in Mayor Fulop’s ambitious #FixNJ agenda, the plan takes a proactive approach to health policy to strengthen the social safety net and help New Jersey families thrive.

“While New Jersey is still a great place to raise a family, for too many residents the high cost of living and the lack of support from state government can make it seem impossible to make ends meet while raising children or taking care of elderly or disabled family members — our Health and Human Services plan is designed to change that,” said Mayor Fulop.
“New Jersey should be a state that invests in families, and our First Year of Life and Early Childhood Agenda will make that happen by doubling paid family leave, capping the cost of childcare at an affordable level, improving senior care and mental health services and much more. At the same time, we need systemic changes around issues like hospital consolidation, insurance premium pricing reform, medical debt relief and much more. Our plan will create a healthier, stronger New Jersey for every resident.”
Highlights of the Fulop Health and Human Services Plan include:
● Comprehensive First Year of Life Agenda for Parents and Child, Including Doubling the Amount of Paid Family Leave Time and Increasing Payments.
● Reform and Streamlining of Subsidies for Low Income New Parents.
● Capping The Cost Of Childcare at $10 Per Day for Families with Income Less Than $150,000.
● Comprehensive Review of Hospital Consolidation and Insurance Network Participation.
● Ensuring Access to Reproductive Healthcare Regardless of Financial Status.
● Improving Senior Care by Consolidating the Medicaid Eligibility System and Supporting the Facility-Based Long-Term Care Sector.
● Mental Health, Harm Reduction & Support for People with Disabilities.
