NEW YORK. June 30, 2023 (Biz Republic) — The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) announced that the Honorable Xavier Becerra, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, the Honorable Alejandro N. Mayorkas, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, and the Honorable Isabella Casillas Guzman, Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration will address the NALEO 40th Annual Conference — the nation’s largest gathering of Latino policymakers.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the NALEO Annual Conference will, for the first time, take place in New York City at the New York Marriott Marquis, July 11–13, 2023. The three sitting Latino cabinet members, U.S. Secretaries Xavier Becerra and Alejandro N. Mayorkas, along with Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman, will address Latino leaders from across the nation during the Conference’s Breakfast Plenary: A Conversation with Federal Agency Leaders on Thursday, July 13 — an unprecedented presence of cabinet officials in the 40 years of the Conference’s history.
“For the very first time, three cabinet secretaries will join us simultaneously to engage our nation’s Latino leaders at a critical time for our community and nation,” said NALEO Educational Fund CEO Arturo Vargas. “NALEO is thrilled to host these high-ranking cabinet members as they discuss some of the most pressing policy issues around immigration and postpandemic recovery with the Latino leaders who are on the front lines working to move their communities forward.”
Every year, the NALEO Annual Conference brings together hundreds of Latino leaders and their supporters from across the country to facilitate the meaningful exchange of ideas and foster solutions around the day’s most pressing policy issues. Just as we were pleased to host Vice President Kamala Harris and Education Secretary Miguel Cardona last year, NALEO is thrilled to have Secretary Becerra, Secretary Mayorkas, and Administrator Guzman join this year’s discussions.
Additionally, an invitation has been extended to President Biden, along with the leading Republican and Democratic presidential candidates, to address the attendees of this year’s NALEO Annual Conference.
