WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 29, 2026) — Rapper Nicki Minaj, a Grammy-nominated artist, attended a summit hosted by The U.S. Department of the Treasury in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday to launch the “Trump Accounts,” an investment bank account for newborns. Minaj pledged to contribute between $150,000 and $300,000 to help fund the initiative. Earlier, she wrote on X that the program represented “the true meaning of giving back to the community,” adding that early financial education and economic support for children would give them “a major advantage in life.”

Addressing the audience, Minaj said she was “probably the president’s number one fan.” She added that her support for President Donald Trump was unlikely to weaken despite criticism. “The hate or whatever people have to say does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more, and it is going to motivate all of us to support him more,” she said. “We are not going to allow harassment and smear campaigns against him. It is not going to work. He has a lot of strength behind him, and God protects him.”

Trump praised Minaj, calling her “the greatest and most successful female rapper in history,” a claim that artists such as Doja Cat, Foxy Brown, Lauryn Hill and Missy Elliott might dispute. He also thanked her for donating “hundreds of thousands of dollars” to the Trump Accounts. Trump, who was seen holding hands with Minaj during the event, referred to her manicure in remarks to the audience, saying he would grow his own nails because he liked hers.

Minaj also obtained a Trump Gold Card valued at $1 million, according to her at no cost, and shared images of it on her social media accounts. According to the card’s official website, it is “a visa based on an individual’s ability to provide a substantial benefit to the United States” and is intended to offer an expedited pathway to U.S. citizenship.

The card could be relevant to Minaj, who said in a 2024 TikTok video that she is not a U.S. citizen, having moved to the United States from Trinidad and Tobago as a child. Wednesday’s event marked Minaj’s latest public show of support for the Make America Great Again movement. She has praised Vice President JD Vance, shared TikTok videos from The White House promoting Trump and recently appeared at an event organized by Turning Point USA.

Earlier this month, several petitions on Change.org called for Minaj’s deportation to Trinidad and Tobago. The campaigns, many of which coincided with her appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest alongside Erika Kirk, gathered hundreds of thousands of signatures.
