Former NJ Governors Codey, Kean, and McGreevey to Headline Panel Discussion at Monmouth University

April 2, 2024 (Biz Republic) — Former New Jersey Governors Richard Codey, Tom Kean, and Jim McGreevey will join the latest installment of Leadership, Civility, and Common Ground in Politics and Public Service, A Public Conversation Series led by New Jersey Sen. Vin Gopal and former New Jersey Sen. Joe Kyrillos at Monmouth University. Briana Vannozzi, an award-winning journalist and anchor for NJ Spotlight News, will moderate the panel, scheduled for 11:40 a.m to 1 p.m. on April 3 at the Great Hall Auditorium at Monmouth University.

WHAT: Leadership, Civility, and Common Ground in Politics and Public Service is a public discussion series led by Democratic State Sen. Vin Gopal and former Republican State Sen. Joe Kyrillos. Throughout the series, Sens. Gopal and Kyrillos engage other public officials in critical discourse. The discussions focus on how people with different ideologies and from different political parties and backgrounds can find common ground through civil dialogue and understanding that can lead to successful outcomes for the public interest.

WHO: Gov. Richard Codey, Gov. Tom Kean, and Gov. Jim McGreevey will join the latest public discussion led by New Jersey Sen. Vin Gopal and former New Jersey Sen. Joe Kyrillos, and moderated by Briana Vannozzi, NJ Spotlight News.

Governor Richard Codey is a Democrat who served as New Jersey’s 53rd Governor from 2004-2006. Codey is the longest-serving state legislator in the State’s history, having served in the New Jersey Legislature continuously from 1974 to 2024. Governor Tom Kean is a Republican who served as the 48th governor of New Jersey from 1982 to 1990. Kean was appointed by President George W. Bush as chairman of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, widely known as the 9/11 Commission. Governor Jim McGreevey is a Democrat who served as the 52nd governor of New Jersey from 2002 to 2004. McGreevey serves as Executive Director of the New Jersey Reentry Corporation.

Senator Vin Gopal is a Democrat representing New Jersey’s 11th legislative district. Gopal serves as chair of the Senate Education Committee and Majority Conference Leader. Senator Joe Kyrillos is Former Republican state senator who represented the 13th district. Kyrillos served as the Republican State Chair and is also a former Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate.
